Weekend coffee share

The current discussion is summer vacations.  Most of us have to book our time off months in advance. One person almost a year – that has to do with replacements and making sure there is coverage. That said we all want to enjoy summer vacation – all hoping for our week or two off of good weather.  There is children’s camps to consider, soccer and hopefully squeezing in free time with family.

We discussed how to get the biggest bang out of our limited summer vacation of say one week.  One individual likes camping so they take a week to camp and she takes long weekends after that to take off to closer campgrounds.  Another person usually rents a cottage for a week.  There is also staying around home and taking in festivals and events in the area. Some family related. Some not. What about just staying home and letting the kids play in their neighborhood or day trips?  It often boils down to feeling left out or not getting enough. Will my kids not have a good summer if they are not on the road or at a camp for the whole period?  Will they be bored at home if not stimulated non-stop? Can they even entertain their selves at home for a stretch of time? The discussion went around and around.

It came down to yes we want to enjoy summer and have memories to share. That could be camping, the cottage, or BBQ and games in the backyard.  What we did decided is that we don’t have to stimulate someone 24/7.  People have to learn to entertain ourselves.  That can involve biking the neighborhood or reading a book.

What do you think? How would you spend a week off with family this summer? Or alone? Do you think the whole summer has to be full of activities or should there be free / downtime? Or alone time!!  OMG.

To summer and making the most out of it!

Weekend Coffee Share

Join us for some coffee time!

Has been a while since we participated in Weekend Coffee Share.  Being the run up to Easter weekend it was busier than usually this week. Trying to squeeze in time to get Easter goodies.  Discussing how not to go overboard for Easter. Decision was have a set amount and not enter the stores until you knew what you were picking up. No wandering around putting all and sundry in the cart.  One bunny per child and eggs scattered around the house.  The non-chocolate item was summer pajamas for everyone. That was fun picking out colors and themes for each child.  I felt good this year knowing I didn’t overspend and where wouldn’t be tons of sweets around the house.

Time to start swapping the winter clothes out. Have a bag for goodwill near the closet and tossing anything I don’t want to see next winter. In the past, I put items away knowing I didn’t enjoy wearing, but they still fit and a good piece.  Winter rolls around again and out it comes back into circulation. Again not feeling it when I wear it, but oh well it still fits. Nope this year a few items are heading to goodwill. I will NOT be wearing items I don’t feel good in next winter.

Also looking at summer/spring gaps in the wardrobe.  Need new summer walking shoes for sure. Always like to pick up a few pretty tops in the latest colors. We had some damp cold days this week so still have the winter coat out and on. What I always look forward to the most is bare legs in the summer.  I’m hoping by May my legs will be bare – hoping is the keyword here. I’m being optimistic!

That is the short version of what has been going on this week. Hope everyone is having a good week.  Long weekend for me so excited about that!

Weekend coffee share

We haven't participated in weekend coffee share in a while. April is speeding by and we are slowly transitioning into spring. Only one of us has started wearing their spring jacket. The rest of us, not so much. There have been cold damp days in April.  If April showers bring forth May flowers than in the next week it had better warm up or nothing will be forthcoming.

As for the weekend, one of us is house cleaning. Even going so far as to wash kitchen cabinets. I mean really. Since I am typing I get to say that as it isn't me. School fairs are fast approaching so work to be done on that. Calling volunteers, crossing fingers that the weather gets warmer and heading to the Dollar Plus store to pick up prizes.  We are enjoying the longer days.  Getting home and having a few hours of daylight just gives you more energy.

Well that is what is happening with us. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Always enjoy having coffee with you.

Weekend Coffee Share !!

wordswag_15073188796611453091488.png

Last weekend in February! WTF happened. Again! Busy week with work, home and not enough play. No play during the week leads to grumpy weekend when errands and house-hold chores eat into two days. Taking a few minutes to #weekendcoffeeshare (head over to Eclecticali to get all the info) as feel I can hopefully regroup after this.

Errands yesterday noticed not only St. Patrick's Day items around but Easter! Well, to be honest I noticed the Easter items last week and just avoided the aisle. I mean really? I think St. Patrick's stuff was out before Valentine's Day was cleared away?  Are we that money hungry we can't let one holiday (I use that term extremely loosely) end before starting the next money grab?

That was my Saturday. Today housework right after I finish another cup of coffee and calm down from my above rant. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Weekend coffee share

wordswag_15073188796611453091488.png

First month of a new year. Still wondering where the old year went. We all have various goals for this year ranging from travel, exercise and finishing projects we started last year. One goal is to blog more so we are taking the rein on that!

Weekend coffee share is a brilliant idea as we love our coffee. Especially on the weekend when we are not rushed and can pour that second or third cup and just be. This weekend will consist of errands. Head over to Eclecticali  for further information on weekend coffee share.

Groceries needed and housework not done during the week. Boring stuff. What we do want to do is start to get organized for coming events. Get back in the habit of checking the local paper and social media for what is happening in our area. Concerts, lectures, art opening and more. Even libraries have events. So decision was over coffee, or another beverage later in the day, we will scroll through our social media, pop into different websites and make note of what is coming up. We want to take advantage of what our city has to offer.

Hope everyone is enjoying their coffee and weekend share!

Weekend coffee share - summer over !!

If we were having coffee I would be ranting that I was NOT, absolutely NOT, ready for summer to be ending.  I have sleeveless tops I have not made the most of, cute short skirts I have hardly worn and well, shoes I am still enjoying. My nails are still looking reasonable good and I do NOT want to have to encase when in shoes. I am not ready for summer to be ending.

Yes, I have sweaters and boots I enjoy, but not yet.  I want another month of summer to truly feel I have made the most out of my summer outfits.  That being said - I always feel I have made the most out of my winter clothes. I am usually tired of them before the end of winter, which seems never ending.

So please give me few more weeks of summer weather. I will wear the sweater to work in the cooler mornings, but let it be hot and sunny by 9 am and I swear I'll not complain this year about winter. I will actually embrace my cords and bulky sweaters. I swear.

Weekend Coffee Share!!

Weekend Coffee Share | Nerd in the Brain (4)

We have gotten out of sync with posting.  One of us whose main habit is reading blogs, pinning pins and crafting found #weekendcoffeeshare over at Nerd in the brain.  Coffee! Well no brainer.  We love coffee and sharing so here it does #weekendcoffeeshare.

Life is currently busy with transitioning over from winter to summer clothes.  Always a bit of purging taking place with what NOT to put away for next winter and also why am I keeping THIS for this season.  Bag on floor for goodwill.  One of us found a full slip and thought what the #&*( ! She doesn't think she ever worn it - into the bag.

All the gardening centers are now up and running so talk is where to get deals on certain plants.  We have some balcony dwellers here so that entails looking at how much sun the plants need.  Also is it cheaper to buy all the plants separate and do our own pot or buy a pot already made up? Remember to check your Farmer's Markets for plants not just the large department stores with the plants section set up in the parking lot - you know the ones.

We are looking at summer reads so let us know any recommendations.  You know that book to take to the beach or cottage. Nothing too heavy.  So thanks Nerd in the brain for weekend share!!
