A good coffee shop

Since we spend a good portion in coffee shops.  Some of us more than others. We thought we'd tell you our take on a good coffee shop. Besides good coffee.

One of the big things is a good table.  One that doesn't shake when you sit down. You know the ones where you are looking for a piece of paper to put under one of the legs. Grabbing your coffee/drink before it spills.  Also a table that is large enough to put a tablet and coffee on. It doesn't have to be a four seater but not so small you're reaching behind tablet for the coffee.

Okay we are seated now coffee in hand.  A selection of pastries and a variety of other choices. We're not talking full meals but bagels, sandwiches, and maybe soup.  Oh also for the coffee we want a good mug. Not a three mouthful and gone mug. One of us judges a good mug by how many fingers she can get into the handle. Comfortable.

We're not talking a chain here for our coffee shop. Local and maybe even know the owner or servers by name.  A chain often has a set look.  If local anything goes decor wise.  We've been in a few coffee shops where they have local art.  Supporting local artists is great and love seeing that. Community supporting community.

Also opening up the coffee shop to events.  Or showcasing other products.  To have a local coffee shop that supports the community.  Plus good coffee, treats, table and chairs.  We're good to go.

Ways coffee makes our day !

Ways coffee makes our day
  •  Wakes me up.  Well obvious but this is a post about how coffee makes our day.
  • Slows me down. This seems counter-intuitive but it is true for me. When I head to a coffee shop it is a whole experience. I sit, text, sip, social media and sip again. I am not worrying about getting to the next place. I am enjoying where I am right there and then.
  • Social. Planning a coffee date on the weekend. There are so many coffee shops – new and old favourites to try. I have to say I enjoy walking into a new place and checking out the décor and seating arrangement.
  • Cold coffee. Yummy. I find it a treat in the summer, especially if sitting outside.
  • Connection. This takes place more at work. It is 3:00 o’clock and everyone is in need of a shot of energy.  So you walk over to grab a coffee together or make it.
  • Exercise.  Yes you read that right. If I need coffee I head out at lunch time to pick it up. Easier than on the way home, plus I am getting a walk in and out of the office.

How does coffee make your day. We would love to hear from you?

#Loveuary Challenge

We are participating in  But I Smile Anyway Loveuary Challenge.  Pop over to her site and get the low down on love for the month of February or Loveuary!!

Is love too strong a word to use for an inanimate object?  Before that decision was made the definition of love was discussed at nausea. Summary is love should invoke a rush of warmth for starters and are you willing to fight for this love? That discussion brought out yes I’d fight for the last piece of chocolate or good coffee, but in the end it was decided no. We might say we love coffee/chocolate and yes we might get a warm feeling when we are enjoying it, but fight for it?  Hmmm…….not in the way we would fight for a loved one or even a sense of justice.

Are we too casual about tossing the word love around?  We quickly check a Thesaurus and came away with adore, fancy, like and appreciate for other words for love. Final decision was we appreciate good chocolate and coffee and might go as far as adore it when it is melting in our mouth, but we’ll save the love word for something more substantial.
