Summer Projects or anytime

We were talking about feeling motivated or not. Needing something to focus on. Needless to say if we didn't blog for six months we were not motivated or focused. We came up with a few ideas to maybe jump start motivation this summer if you are looking for a summer (or anytime) project. Here goes.....

  • Pick an item like rocks, trees, beaches, drinks and take pictures of that item. Again and again so that at the end of the season you have a collection. Pick something fun and that you know you will be seeing at least off and on this season.
  • Gratitude journal - easy write down three things you were grateful for today. I know people always put this on the list. Likely because easy and it works.
  • Rainy days purge or organize a cabinet or drawer. Note cabinet or drawer not closet. Not room. Don't get overwhelmed. One drawer done.
  • Paint or mod-podge plant pots. For mod-podge try pretty napkins.
  • Walk / hike. What about walking your neighbourhood after supper.  If you have a front porch sit out there in the evenings and watch the world or at least your neighbours go by.
  • Try something new. Check out classes or YouTube. What about line drawing? Tai Chi? Up to you.
  • Try a new cocktail or beer or wine or cooler. Maybe write down, snap pic of them and note why you like or not for recommendations.
  • Try a new restaurants.
  • Send postcards from your city to away friends
  • If relaxing catch up on your reading list. Make a plan with a friend that you are reading X many books this summer.
If you have other ideas we'd love to hear them.  Happy summer / season.

Word of the year

We are taking the challenge and have started thinking about a word for the year.  you can always start now has a post on finding your word for the year.  Summary think about how you want to feel and what you want / need to do in the coming year.  Read the full post it is worth it.

There is no right or wrong word. It is your word. You can always start now says it keeps her focused and pushes and challenges her. We are so in for that!

So we're over here thinking of feelings, projects and needs.  If you have a word for the year let us know! We'll keep you posted in the new year what our words are and why.  It is bring focus hello!!!!

Last three months of the year

How is that possible? The days are long but the weeks/months have been fast. The weather is definitely fall here. Warmer days and cooler nights. Which is fine after the humidity we have experienced. Okay I'm not talking for ALL of us but I'm the one typing so........

We were talking about getting some focus now that the seasons are changing. School back in. Summer vacations over.  That lead to projects or goals we wanted off our plate before we roll into a new year. The following is what we will be concentrating on.

In no particular order.....

  • Meal prep.  Start making soups and chili that can be frozen. The plan is to listen to a podcast or audiobook while chopping, and prepping.
  • Paper - seriously pull it out and go through it.  Taxes, receipts, instructions (do we even still have that item?), cards and paper period.
  • Get back into book club. Pick a book and a date. Done
  • Clean out linen closet
  • Organize the garage.
  • Organize the photos on phone.  This feels daunting. Plan is to break it down into small pieces of time. 10-15 minutes here and there. Maybe start with deleting duplicates and out of focus.
  • Schedule and hopefully have a dentist and doctor appointments have been putting off
What do you have on your list to check off before the end of the year?  We would love to hear it! Maybe we'll have to add to ours.

New Month New Views

Well we have turned the calendar and in the mornings can feel it in the air.  It has been a whirlwind of a summer. What will be open, can we travel, if we can where and how? This summer kept everyone closer to home and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Families looking for campers.  Booking cottages and camp grounds. Not traveling and doing home renovations. Realizing that open concept isn't necessarily all that it is cracked up to be.  We have been looking at our homes, situations and future a bit differently in the past six months.

This is not changing anytime soon. Yes we can go out to restaurants and school is starting. We are entering into another season and will have to find ways to deal with it like we did summer. Sticking closer to home and enjoying places in our own local.

We think fall and heading into winter is a great time to start thinking about new projects. Summer allowed us to be outdoors and easier to social distance.  Fall and especially winter not so much. So lets start the conversation of what we can do. Lets have projects and events in mind for when we are home more. Something to look forward.

We have been pretty creativity from Zoom book clubs, paint-nights and more. Let's not wait until winter is upon us. Why not start the conversation now as to things we can do to keep us sane and look forward to.

We're putting our heads together and will report back our ideas for events at home and keeping the winter blues somewhat at bay.
